Volume 8, Book 73, ‘Book of Good Manners’, Number 1:
Narrated by Al-Walid bin ‘Aizar
I heard Abi Amr ‘Ash-Shaibani saying, “The owner of this house.” he pointed to ‘Abdullah’s house, “said, ‘I asked the Prophet Peace Be Upon Him ‘Which deed is loved most by Allah?” He replied, ‘To offer prayers at their early (very first) stated times.’ “. ‘Abdullah asked, “What is the next (in goodness)?” The Prophet Peace Be Upon Him said, “To be good and dutiful to one’s parents,” ‘Abdullah asked, “What is the next (in goodness)?” The Prophet Peace Be Upon Him said, “To participate in Jihad for Allah’s Cause.” ‘Abdullah added, “The Prophet Peace Be Upon Him narrated to me these three things, and if I had asked more, he would have told me more.”
Offering prayers at early times, being dutiful to parents and jihad, all three have same reward in The Hereafter because all three of them were mentioned together by The Prophet Peace Be Upon Him.
