In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Quran: Chapter 6, La Yuhibbu’, Sura: 5 ‘Al- Maidah’ ‘The Table spread with food’, Verse: 45
Verse 45: And We ordained therein for them: Life for life, eye for eye, nose for nose, ear for ear, tooth for tooth, and wounds equal for equal. But if anyone remits the retaliation by way of charity, it shall be for him an expiation. And whosoever does not judge by that which Allah has revealed, such are the, Zalimun, wrong doers.
Difficult words: Retaliation: revenge, vengeance, settling of score, punishment.
Notes by samia2010oct: Revenge can be taken but it must not exceed than what was done to him/ her. There is a thin, fine line between completion of revenge and the start of aggression. As soon as the revenge ends, aggression starts. So if revenge exceeds that fine line of limit of torture experienced then one enters the category of wrong doers. One is allowed to take revenge but one is not allowed to become an aggressor. Therefore if one pardons and excuses the aggressor Allah promises his/ her sins be forgiven. Allah loves those who pardon. It is Big Sin, Gunaah e Kabira, to commit aggression even if it is in retaliation. For Big Sins, Gunaah e Kabira, there is the punishment of unbearable burning of whole body by Unending Fire.
